I am so excited to start my third year as the “atelierista,” or art studio coordinator and facilitator for the Early Childhood Program. This is my ninth year working in the Early Childhood building, which feels like my second home. I love inspiring creativity in young children and encouraging teachers by setting up engaging environments that evoke curiosity and love of learning. I feel very lucky to work with all of the preschool teachers and children and proud to watch them grow and learn more every year.
I have always been passionate about creating art. I received my bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a focus in sculpture from the University of North Texas (UNT). While working on my degree, I found my passion for teaching. I taught college students how to operate art tools and taught afterschool drawing classes. When I began working at Akiba, I was inspired to go back to school and complete a master’s degree in early childhood studies from UNT.
I am part of the Early Childhood Leadership Team, which allows me to bring my creativity and skills to all aspects of Akiba. I absolutely love being a party of this community!
