Course Description: This course will cover the fundamentals concepts of Pre – Algebra and will guide students through integers, one step equations, inequalities and equations, graphs and functions, percent and probabilities. We will focus on developing reasoning strategies and approach our math learning from an inquiring point of view to understand concepts and applications.
Dimensional Analysis: This is a review on ratios, rates, complex fractions, and dimensional analysis which can be tough. For this topic, work should be done with a calculator.
Reading the directions is essential on this assignment in order to round to the proper decimal place and have the correct labels.
For measurement conversions refer to the table in your text book, page 201.
Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you know that the 7th grade will take their math end of semester test on Monday, December 11th, 2017. The test will include all the units we have covered: - Unit Rates and Percentages - The Language of Algebra - Operation with Integers - Operation with Rational Numbers - Powers and Exponents. We will start working on the End of Semester Review on Thursday, November 30th. The review is due on Wednesday, December 6th. We will work on it during class time, however it will be necessary for the students to also work on it at home to complete the task on time. You should expect about 30 minutes of homework per night during this time. The review should be completed independently as all the topics have been covered in class and in previous reviews and quizzes. Students also can use the following resources: - Their notes - Past Review - Past Quizzes - Text Book - Workbook The review is also an opportunity for students to develop their organizational skills as well as their time management. Additionally, students are encouraged to make their own guides. They will be able to use their guides on the day of the exam. On it they can write formulas, notes, examples, procedures, definitions, etc. Their guides should only be one page (both sides), are for individual use and cannot be shared or borrowed. They need to be hand-written and no photocopies will be allowed. The test will look very similar to the review, but will be less extensive as it is designed to be completed during regular class time. Students can use a regular calculator. No scientific calculators will be allowed as they provide the answers to several topics that we are currently assessing. (Examples: order of operations and operations with integers). Regular calculators are a tool to help students check their operations, however they will still need to show all their work both in the review and in the test. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to let me know. Sincerely, Ms. Guzman MS Math Teacher
