Annual Fund 2009-2010
A Light for One is a Light for One Hundred.
The success of our Annual Fund "A Light for One is a Light for One Hundred" Campaign depends on your generosity: thank you for your consideration of this important campaign!
Every dollar counts and makes a difference for our students. Your participation, at any level, demonstrates your commitment to Akiba. The standard of excellence at Akiba cannot be maintained by tuition alone, which covers roughly only 70% of the cost of educating each child. Our campaign helps bridge this gap and allows us attract and retain the best teachers, keep small student/teacher ratios and provide tuition assistance to our families in need. Your generous support and active involvement at Akiba is vital to our success.

Thank you for supporting Jewish education! |

What is Annual Fund?
Annual Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition income and actual operating expenses. The Annual Fund Campaign is an essential component of our school’s financial model and the largest source of unrestricted dollars that can be used to support our growing needs. Tuition covers roughly 70% of our budget. The funds raised from this campaign support the general operating budget including tuition assistance, faculty salaries and benefits, technology upgrades, new educational initiatives and professional development.
Why is tuition not enough?
Generally speaking, all private schools have a gap between the cost of tuition and actual budget costs. Akiba is no different. Annual Fund allows us to keep the cost of tuition down so that a Jewish education from Akiba is accessible to a diverse population. Private schools rely on tuition, endowment income and fundraising proceeds to meet their operating expenses.
Who contributes to Annual Fund?
The Akiba community is diverse and we rely on funds from many different groups, including board members, current and former parents, alumni, current and former grandparents, faculty, staff and friends of the greater community.
Why should I give?
Your support of the Annual Fund demonstrates confidence in the overall mission and goals of the school. In addition, since the award of grants and major gifts from foundations and individuals are partially determined by annual fund participation levels, your actions prove that the community at large is committed to Akiba’s future. Our school is growing, and as we strive to meet the expanding needs of the Dallas Jewish community, we continually seek increased participation in our campaign, enabling us to continue to provide tuition assistance and build upon our academic and community excellence. Our goal is to have 100% participation by our current families, Board members, faculty and staff.

How
much should I give?
Gifts may range from $18 on up—this could mean providing school supplies to providing tuition for a child in need of financial aid. Participation should be appropriate for each donor’s personal circumstances. Every gift will make a difference in the life of an Akiba student. Pledges should be made and paid by the end of our fiscal year (June 30th) as the money is immediately directed to the current fiscal year. Please check if your company participates in the corporate match program or call the Development Office at 214.295.3400.
