What
is Annual Fund?
Annual Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition income and actual operating expenses. The Annual Fund Campaign is an essential component of our school’s financial model and the largest
source
of unrestricted dollars that can be used to support our growing needs. Tuition covers roughly 65% of our budget. The funds raised from this campaign support the general operating budget including tuition assistance, faculty salaries and benefits, technology upgrades, new educational initiatives and professional development.
Why is tuition not enough?
Generally speaking, all private schools have a gap between the cost of tuition and actual budget costs. Akiba is no different. Annual Fund allows us to keep the cost of tuition down so that a Jewish education from Akiba is accessible to a diverse population. Private schools rely on tuition, endowment income and fundraising proceeds to meet their operating expenses.
Who contributes to Annual Fund?
The Akiba community is diverse and we rely on funds from many different groups, including current and past parents, alumni and former students, current and past grandparents, faculty, staff and friends of the greater community.
Why should I give?
Your support of the Annual Fund demonstrates confidence in the overall mission and goals of the school. In addition, since the award of grants is partially determined by annual fund participation levels, your actions prove that the community at large is committed to Akiba’s future. In the last fiscal year, the Akiba community showed its strength by exceeding previous annual fund records by 10%, but the challenge is still great! Our school is growing, and as we strive to meet the expanding needs of the Dallas Jewish community, we continually seek increased participation in our campaign, enabling us to continue to provide tuition assistance and build upon our academic and community excellence. Our goal is to have 100% participation by our current families, Board members, faculty and staff.

How
much should I give?
Gifts may range from $18 on up—this could mean providing school supplies to providing tuition for a child in need of financial aid. Participation should be appropriate for each donor’s personal circumstances. Every gift will make a difference in the life of an Akiba student. Pledges should be made and paid by the end of our fiscal year (June 30th) as the money is immediately directed to the current fiscal year.
