Tribal Program
Akiba's students in grades K through 8, participate in a "Tribal Program” whereby the Twelve Tribes of Israel come together to celebrate holidays, national and Judaic, through various activities which incorporate art, music, learning, and fun. In its second year at the school, this Program, designed by Head of School Mark Stolovitsky, brings the students of all grades together in contests and projects.

Each Tribe includes students of each of the grades and is led by two or more eighth-grade students. This helps to engender family spirit and to empower the students of the upper grades.

Early in the year, students create a banner that expresses the history of their Tribe and the team of students therein. Reuven, Shimon, Levi, Yehuda, Dan, Naftali, Gad, Asher, Yisachar, Zevulun, Yosef, and Binyamin come alive through each activity.

Student Council
Advisors Alicia Bouy and Rabbi Zev Silver oversee Akiba's Student Council which includes positions of President, Vice-president, Treasurer, Secretary, Judaics and Public Relations. Students participate in a campaign, complete with advertising and speeches, before each fall's annual election. The Council helps with activities and programming throughout the year, initiates numerous fundraising programs and stands as the voice of the students.

National Junior Honor Society
Dr. Paula Harvey supervises Akiba's chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. Each spring, senior-elect students are inducted into the organization after consideration of academic success, community service, and other elements. The defining roles of scholar and character, service, leadership, and citizenship are all considered before acceptance. The NJHS edits the annual Pathways Literary Journal, participates in Community Service projects throughout Campus, and serves as role models to students in lower grades.

Extracurricular Activities
Akiba hosts weekly extracurricular programming for its students including Ballet, Martial Arts, Chess Club and Choir. Ballet and Chess Club are both supervised by experts in the field from the community.

Community Service
Akiba believes strongly in a commitment to the greater community. In order to nurture an appreciation of this value and so that students may take an active role in their communities in the future, all students in grades 1 through 8 are required to complete Chesed hours as part of their promotion or graduation requirements.

Grades 1 - 2 1 hour
Grades 3 - 4 2 hours
Grades 5 - 5 5 hours
Grade 8 18 hours
